I love this book so much more than the others in the Hunger Games series, probably because Katniss isn't there. This book was so fun to read even though the beginning is a little slow because it picks up for the last 40% of the book. Every chapter felt worthwhile and I was constantly engaged while reading it. I loved seeing how the Hunger Games came to be and the origin story of evil Snow. But to be honest it was more fun reading the progression of Snow's corruptedness and how exactly he came to his conclusion on society and the value of the Capitol. The one word I want to use to describe this book is tragic because it is sad but beautiful at the same time. And since I had already watched the movie, when I came across the songs that were ever so meaningfully interjected I knew how they sounded. Something I thoroughly enjoyed was the fact that Snow would analyze the plot and characters for us. I told my friend that this book is much easier to pick apart than any book for school and more enjoyable to read as well. Overall I think in the whole Hunger Games franchise I like this book best.
Recommendation
Even if you haven't read the Hunger Games or have no interest in reading it in the future, you should pick up this book. It's engaging and keeps you on your toes. It will leave a much better impression than any of the other books and will leave you feeling full instead of like you just had a crater taken out of your chest. I'm telling you, this book is worth reading and you won't regret it(even though it's a little long and looks daunting). Also it's somewhat of a classic because people recognize it easily.
