Six of Crows Series

I loved reading this book, and it's a testament to Leigh Bardugo's improvement in her writing. Although Shadow and Bone was good, it cannot be compared to this. The captivating plotline, altering perspectives, and character depth all address this. Unlike some books that seem to slow in some places, this one constantly kept me guessing and wanting more. I wouldn't say there were several plot twists per se, just that the book's general theme was scheming, getting the plans debunked, and then scheming some more. Also, I love how Bardugo wrote in the first person while rarely using "I". Her descriptions were bewitching and the characters were charming. She used various perspectives to move the story along and add background to each character. In this way I was delighted by her abnormal, yet creative, writing.

Recommendation

I would for sure recommend this book to those who haven't already read it. In my(and several of my friends') opinions, this book ranks way higher than the entirety of the Shadow and Bone series. And there's only 2 books in this series. The characters a amazingly funny and never disappoint, while the setting is unknown but somehow not confusing. So if you are looking for a quick but entertaining read, this is a great place to start.

This was such a good book! And even though it was the end to the series, it didn't feel like I was leaving a world behind. Bardugo excelled my expectations and for that I am so grateful. The character development and dynamics between all the close-knit characters was so heartwarming to read and the plot was as conniving as before. Yet I felt the stakes were higher in this book than the last so in addition to an adrenaline rush you feel the devastation and panic of the entire situation. I love the theme of revenge and Kaz's power play in all of this, but at the same time I am glad he learned to live without becoming a tyrant. Throughout this book, and even series, there is a subtle theme of humaneness and choosing who you want to be even when all seems lost. I had an extraordinary time reading this.

Recommendation

This is a great book to read, period. It doesn't matter what genre you usually like or read, or even how old you are. This book interests people of all ages, because although romances are involved, the main focus is entertaining and fast-paced. This whole series was so good that I have the duology and an annotated copy of the first book! I am definitely going to be rereading this several times ❤️.
