This book was surprisingly good. I expected it to be cliche and dreary as it is a very popular murder mystery book, but I underestimated Agatha Christie. Although the language and style at points were a little outdated for me they weren't difficult to understand like most fluff sections of a book. And Agatha Christie didn't drone on about irrelevant things, everything had a specific purpose; this aspect of the mystery gives readers a thrilling sensation whenever they identify a detail that would fit into the puzzle later. Speaking of the mystery itself, I never would have guessed, in my wildest dreams, what the ending was. But I was continuously drawn to the book because of the main character's astute nature and ingenuity; watching Poirot slowly unravel the mystery right in front of our eyes, yet still unaware of the solution. I finally understand why so many people have read this book, even those who avoid mystery and are uninformed about who Agatha Christie was. This was such a quick read, between the fast-moving plot, character depth, and cross-character connections.
Recommendation
Anyone can read this book, even people who don't read! This is a great starter book to immerse young adults or kids into more mature writing as well as to introduce murder mystery as a genre. The writing is very different compared to books today, however I believe it gives the book more flavor and enhances the world-building. If you are looking to start reading at all or reading mystery I think Agatha Christie is a great author to try out because her books are captivating and one can never go wrong when reading a murder mystery.
