Delirium

4.5/5 ★

I give this book a 4.5-star review because Lauren Oliver did a marvelous job captivating our attention and keeping it throughout the book. Oliver's effort in the story is incredible, especially in the mature and fantastical writing. The concept of this book is original and takes on a new perspective, as the book takes place in an alternative world where love is a disease. We are simply tagging along on the main character’s journey of what love means. Romantically and storge(love in families). I do think the characters were a bit unbelievable because the main character is portrayed a little too innocent and naive for the situation, but overall the book tore my heart out.

Recommendation

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a young adult and loves dystopian books. It opens your mind and introduces you to contrasting possibilities. This book is also ideal for transitioning into mature reading since it has young-teenage content in developed writing styles. However, it does get very emotional at times, so keep that in mind if/when you decide to read this book.

Pandemonium

5/5★

This book deserves all 5 stars for a multitude of reasons. First of all, Olivers had to handle the surge of provoked readers who read about the plot twist/cliff hanger at the very end of the book. And she did so very gracefully. One of her most challenging jobs was conveying how the main character felt. From being totally crazy in love to having to leave everything she ever knew behind. And on top of that, what it felt like to lose what mattered to you the most. Most of the time I didn't realize I was reading. I felt those emotions raw and they left me vulnerable, like a sharp blade that cut me. Let's just say Olivers had me in my feels, including shedding a few tears of happiness as well as disbelief.

Recommendation

I will always recommend this book to everyone. You may not like it or, or even have the motive to try reading it, but I will recommend it to you. I think this book changed me in ways I never imagined. I am young, so to speak, but I feel as though I have already loved, and lost, and loved again. Olivers threw me into situations I never thought I would experience, and even though my pillow was wet each morning, I loved it. I ate this book up in about a weekend, ripping through the chapters. And let me tell you, I have never ranted more in my life. The group chat was just filled with my capital letters and long, emotional paragraphs. YA, dystopian, and romance readers will fall in love with this book. Trust me, READ THIS.

Requiem

5/5★

This. Damn. Book. I can't-I CAN'T! Oh you thought the last book was a tear-jerking, page-turner? Well let me tell you, this book DESTROYED ME. I was so consumed by it while reading it, and I have to say, I am not mad. I don't think I can say much about this book, because most of it is just spoilers and surprises. More new/old characters arrive, and I just love the structure of this book. It compares duel POVs and at the end they finally meet and it just flows so naturally. As for the writing, I love Oliver's graceful yet witty style. She was consistent with the series' manner, but it was never boring to read.

Recommendation

I would recommend this book to those of you who have already read Delirium and Pandemonium, but this can be a great book to introduce you to the series or even the dystopian world in general. Although some people are eager to say this series should have been continued, I think the lack of closure gives a sense of reality. In reality, one's life never 'ends.' It keeps going, even after all the hardships and free falls you've faced. So this book ironically captures the essence of real life and how it's not always sugar and spice.
