4/5

As always, Rick Riordan has done it again. He made a great book that was interesting in both plot as well as character choices. It's a little difficult to describe the book without giving too much away because the plot is based on a spoiler and continues to surprise us along with the main character. But I can say that the book was worth it and it was delightful to see the main character was Indian and had a strong history in that realm. I will say the target audience is probably below my age range because most characters were young and hence it was kind of surface level. But I was not mad because I always trust (uncle) Riordan. I wish this book were a part of a series because it's so good and kept me on my toes the entire time. It would also be very easy to keep the story going, seeing as it's based on a fictitious historical legend. At the end of the day, the book unexpectedly broke my heart and I loved that aspect of it.

Recommendation

This book was pretty good and I think it everyone who has ever read anything by Rick Riordan will eventually read this because of his reputation and talent. The only reason I gave it a 4/5 is because it isn't as breathtaking as some of my favorite series, and it seems like something I would have appreciated even more if I were younger. But this is a great step for young audiences or Riordan lovers or even anyone looking for mystical adventure that leaves you speechless.
